August Car Sales look to be higher

august_calendar_w.jpg

Propelled by General Motors wonderful pricing that has been extended for employee pricing, experts are predicting that August car sales will be better than July.

Thank God!

July 2008 proved to be the cruelest hit of all for auto makers, with car sales posting a 16 year low, with an adjusted sales amount of 12.5 million vehicles. With the complex SAAR model, it is predicted that the number of sales in August should be over 13 million, which is down from 16 million a year ago at the same time, but the improvement has to be seen as very positive considering that the economy has continued to slump, Wall Street is doing consumers no favors, and the oil prices translating into gas prices really haven't been significantly different.

If gas can continue its gradual descent as it has over the past couple of weeks to where many think it will average out at about 3.50 nationally, this will obviously help this number in September and into the winter seasons. But gimmicks and deals by car dealers won't translate necessarily into big bucks for auto makers, but it can't hurt....
