Beijing denies diesel ban lift

dieselpump.jpg

Continuing its stance and demand for a greater environment even amidst pressure from the global economy, the Beijing Environmental Protection Bureau has gone on record that it will NOT raise the ban it has on diesel vehicles. The concept is pretty simple; diesel emits more environmental pollutants than gasoline vehicles, and therefore will not be allowed.

Officials have stated that once there are "light diesels", which would meet the emission standards that petrol vehicles do, the ban would be lifted. When's that going to happen? Yeah.....I am stumped too. On average, diesels emit over 3 times as much pollutants than gasoline and 10 more times inhalants. So....basically, they have a looooooooooooong way to go to improve.

Can you imagine if there were such a ban in the United States or other major areas that utilize diesel products for industry and the like? Yikes....you think the economy there is in trouble now? But you have to give credit for China not bowing down to pressure; even on March 1st, they will ban all auto sales of new cars that do not meet the "IV" standards--which are equivalent to Euro IV.
