Ford's Sync the Gadget of the Year?

sync.jpg Detroit's Freep.com has named the Ford Sync as the "gadget of the year". Citing not only the flexibility of the system, it really takes off on the price tag being low as compared to what normal "new" gadgets run. The article mentions that instead of making it a luxury items, Ford makes the smarter move by marketing it to the masses in some of its most economical vehicles.

Even with the limited models it is now available in, word is that within a year all Ford, Mercury, and Lincoln models will have the Sync as an option. Blending voice activated commands with MP3 technology as well as cellular phone voice actions, the Sync is truly a major advancement in the auto world.

However, is it all that and a bag of chips? There's been some reports that its functionality is still suspect and that it really doesn't do too much with driver distraction issues, because of the fact that, even according to the Microsoft engineering area that produces the item that it is a "work in process". While this is true in most every gadget you see nowadays, it's a great thing, but maybe not quite the best thing to sliced bread.

Wait a year...my opinion.
