Higher Gas Prices=Lower Traffic Deaths

060822_traffic_hlg_4p.hlarge.jpg

This again is one of those no-brainer things that really are not a surprise when you put two and two together. Facts about the decline in traffic deaths--which since March has ranged from 18% to 9% on a monthly basis--are solely attributed to the rise in gas prices, because quite simply, many more people just aren't on the roads.

The last time there were this big of drops was back in 1973-74, when the Arab Oil Embargo occurred, as well as 1982, when the national drinking limit was raised to 21. Since then, the ebb and flows of traffic deaths have not been significant in either direction until as of late, when the price of crude oil topped 100.00 for the first time and has just kept climbing.

I guess you take the good, and you take the bad...You take 'em both, and there you have...the facts of life...the facts of life. (Deep thoughts, eh?)
