Jetta TDI awarded Tax Credit

2006_vw_jetta_tdi_front.jpg

Yeah, yeah, I know, it's not glamorous news, but for owners and fans of the Volkswaged Jetta TDI, this is great information. The IRS has given the model the Advanced Lean Burn Technology Motor Vehicle income tax credit, which allows for a 1300.00 tax credit for Americans that own the sedan or sportwagen models.

This is really no surprise--the TDI is one of the most clean cars around when it comes to emission standards, and is already up to the tough standard that California has.The newest models will be available in August, and most fans are chomping at the bit for a chance at this car that combines fuel efficiency and performance.

As far as the gas economy goes, the EPA listing of the Jetta TDI is 29/40, but V-dub took this one step further and had the car tested under real world conditions (whatever that means) and it actually is better, coming in at a 38/44 clip. Kind of makes you wonder with that much of a discrepancy how well the EPA numbers really are.
