Lights, Camera, but no action for GM in Oscars

General Motors has long been one of the biggest spenders for the Oscars in terms of advertisements. However, for the 2009 Oscars, GM will not be present and spending the almost 13.5 million it did last year for one of entertainment's biggest events.

When discussed, GM noted that this was not in their "2009 plans".

Ummm....k....So, let's see--you are already losing money and you are needing to basically rework your image, so---you are NOT going to advertise on one of the highest watched shows of the year? Sure, people watching it aren't going to exactly looking to run out and buy a GM car/truck/SUV, but it can't hurt once again to put this as a priority. Perhaps this will mean more spending on the Super Bowl, but with the decision making this company makes--who knows...
