Shelby GT500KR to play KITT??

Oh, how we loved Michael Knight...Riding around in KITT, the best car ever known to anyone ever, he was able to get the girls, solve the crime, basically MacGyver in leather pants. But that was then...and this is now. With the impending new Knight Rider TV show and "Da Hoff", the rumor is that producers have foregone the idea of having the GM 3rd gen F-body and have decided to go forward with a Shelby GT500KR Mustang as the new KITT, Jalopnik.com reports.

Naturalists who are big fans of the show have voiced their displeasure with the car choice and even the design. The car will not be all black as previous, but will instead have grey racing stripes and KITT's "mouth" will be much higher than the grill for the "red" stripe. While this has not been ultimately confirmed, some fans are saying (more like hoping) that the spy photos have been photoshopped. If they have been, it's a darn good job.

I just don't get it. Why not use the original KITT Pontiac? This has got to be a joke...cruel, cruel joke....but that's what the internet is for right? Well, other than scantily-clad...er....nevermind.
