Tata Nano to get diesel and possible hybrid model

Tata_Nano.jpg

Nano has an already ridiculously low price (2500.00 US dollars). And now it's even getting a little more sophisticated. With the help of Germany's FEV, which is an independent engine and powertrain systems research, design and development company, the Tata Nano will be developed into a diesel and possible hybrid model.

The hybrid specs are still fuzzy--its unknown whether it will be paired with a gasoline or diesel powertrain--but the diesel version--a 623cc, two-cylinder engine-- will feature a Bosch fuel-injection system. No word on pricing that I could find, but obviously this will probably mean a bit of a jump than the low amount they charge currently.

With the small stature, what will the MPG be with the hybrid and diesel versions? Probably a ridiculously high number for that as well--even if the weight is being increased with the powertrain!!!
