Toyota discussing iQ convertible

toyota_iq_black_news_image.jpg

It can be called many things, from a spider to a cabriolet to a convertible, but any way you term it, it's usually something that people are interested in. And in the case of the small iQ, Toyota is going to build a two seat concept car directly for the Tokyo Motor Show.

Power is still expected to come from the 1.0L VVT-i 3-cylinder gasoline engine capable of 67-hp. All it really looks like to me is a smart car as a convertible. I also wonder what the issues involved with taking a car that is already subject to scrutiny as having virtually no safety padding now being opened up. Regardless, I am sure this will create plenty of buzzzzzzzzzz in Japan. Stay tuned.

(Oh, don't forget, this little gem thus far is not planned on being available in the US. If it does, rumor is it will be as a badged Scion again. Good times, eh?)
