Toyota may smarten up US with iQ

toyota-iq-concept-2007-732359.jpg

In the face of the increasing pressure to produce smaller cars and with the dealers not able to keep Priuses, Civics, and even Fits on the lots, Toyota is looking to possibly move the iQ to the United States someday, and it seems like if this would happen, my guess would be that this would be a slam dunk for ToMoCo.

It’s not big by any means, although it says that it can seat 3 adults and one child at 117 inches in length, the fuel efficiency of course is the biggest selling point as only the Prius has better numbers overall in the Toyota brand. The pricing also seems like it would be right up most Americans’ “alleys” now that gas is ridiculously high, as most experts are predicting the opening price at approximately 12K.

Some are saying though that the move is kind of an odd one overall, as VW has decided to not go with the Scirocco and the Golf Rabbit due to rising costs and the flattened US economy, but with Toyota able to financially take risks—and I don’t feel that this is a risk at all—they can certainly make this move with confidence.
